Today, we worshiped together at Hope Centre. It was my first night leading the service. I know that for many this transition time is difficult. It is for me too. Our family is in the midst of major changes. We have changed cities, school and church. It seemed very relevant to have as a theme for tonight’s service: FEAR.
The verse I chose to reflect on tonight has been an inspirational verse to me for years. Philippians 4:13 says “I can do EVERYTHING through HIM who gives me strength!” To understand what this verse can teach us we looked at who we are. We are nothing on our own. We are weak and flawed. Yet when we align ourselves with HIM, our Father. we are empowered and strengthened. God fills us with His Spirit and enables us to do things that may even seem daunting and frightening. We need to hold on to Him and stay close so that we may be continually strengthened. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, when Christ “dwells in us richly” we can balance our fears with reassurance and our fear will not destroy us.
As we move into these transitions we need to uphold eachother and pray for one another. Tonight began a new chapter in HCM and it is my prayer that God’s Kingdom may be expanded as we seek to honour Him and reach others in His name.
