Easter ROCKS!

The rock has been rolled away. . . the grave is empty! Our risen Lord fills us with Easter hope and reminds us of the beautiful plan for his people. “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This was the LORD’S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” Psalm 118:22.
I have had a long time fascination with biblical “rocks”. They are mentioned often in scripture and provide a visual reminder for many great truths. Rocks also seem so strong and indestructible. It’s no wonder they sealed Christ’s tomb with a rock—and it is the moving of that rock which gives truth to the words: “There’s nothing my God cannot do!”
I have chosen to include below a poem that I wrote a few years ago. It was written for children. I am including it as a reminder for us to come as children to the empty tomb of Christ. Let us gaze with a renewed sense of awe and exclaim wholeheartedly:
“Alleluia! He has risen! He has risen indeed! Alleluia!”

Sometimes I feel so little
And not the least bit strong.
And when I try to help myself
So many things go wrong.

The stories told of Jesus
Say he’s mighty as can be
He healed so many people
And calmed an angry sea.

Some people tried to stop him
They had him crucified.
They took his body to a cave
And locked him up inside.

They sealed the tomb up extra tight
With a giant rock.
What happened next surprised them all
And gave them quite a shock.

Nothing is stronger than my God
He’s big as big can be.
He moved away that great big stone
To set his people free!

This little resurrection rock
Helps me to feel strong.
It tells me of my mighty God

With Him I won’t go wrong!
