“See the winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come!” Song of Songs 2:11-12
I love the season of spring and after our first Winnipeg winter, I welcome it wholeheartedly! Spring is so refreshing and inspiring. I love spring flowers and my very favourite colour is the bright green of brand new leaves. This whole season is a reminder of the Easter season. I can’t help but see the connections as I look around me in awe. In order to fully appreciate spring we need to experience winter ~ there is a cleansing that comes from the dead of winter. The foliage was gone, but only temporarily. Our winters become more bearable as we know that spring is coming. The resurrection of Jesus is a beautiful spring after a harsh winter. As we look upon our gardens and marvel at the new growth of this season, may we be reminded that Jesus is our lily of the valley: “I am the Rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys”. Song of Songs 2:1
The season of singing is here for he has risen indeed!
