Many people are intimidated by the thought of walking with someone that they love or support as they journey through their grief. You walk beside them as a companion. “Companioning” someone who is grieving takes patience and understanding…. and resources!
There is no right way to grieve as grief does not often unfold in an orderly manner and is different for everyone. It is a journey that impacts many aspects of our lives– physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is important for individuals with disabilities, as with everyone, to have the opportunity to find their way through their journey. Hope Centre Ministries would like to walk along side you as you provide supports in this process. A project, completed by nursing students with the University of Manitoba, has allowed for us to compile various resources for supporting someone with a disability through the journey of grief as it pertains to change or loss.
