How you are helping to deliver belonging in the midst of a pandemic.
Out of all the things COVID-19 has changed for people with disabilities, not being able to have close contact with friends and community is the worst of all.
And that’s why I’m thankful for kind people like you! Thank you for caring and helping us deliver packages of “Hope”! Your kind support of Hope Centre Ministries means that people with disabilities know they are not forgotten.
A card mailed. A package delivered. Tangible reminders of a community that misses being together. This is vital for people- we ALL need to feel connected. Thank you for making sure that our friends with disabilities are not left out and overlooked during these times of restrictions.
Your compassion and generosity is helping people with disabilities maintain what they need in order to live a full and meaningful life: connection with God, and connection with others.
Hope came to MY door!
The difference your support means to Ellie
Ellie and her friends love having Friendship Kit supplies delivered to their home. Every week, there is an interactive lesson with supplies for follow up activities. It is a favourite time of week for many. Thank you for making this possible!
“Ellie’s disability and linked health issues have put her in the “high risk” category in terms of COVID-19. That meant she had to switch to exclusively virtual learning for school and has been quarantined at home since March. Hope Centre’s programs have been a social lifeline for Ellie this year! It’s sometimes the only opportunity in a week where Ellie can see (even if on a screen!) and interact with peers. Not only that, it’s a chance for her to be involved in fellowship and worship! The leaders at Hope Centre have gone out of their way to make fun activities for the participants and Ellie’s favourite time of the week is 11:00a.m. on Thursdays, when she gets to be part of her friendship group at HCM! As a mom, it warms my heart to see Ellie make new friends and be in a group of people who understand what it’s like to be unique. The pandemic has been really hard on all of us, but Hope Centre has helped us feel a lot less isolated and we are so grateful! HCM staff and programs have helped remind both Ellie and myself that no matter what our circumstances are, we remain children of God and even a pandemic can’t hold back the Body of Christ!” ~ Chrystie, Ellie’s Mom
Thank you for making these moments possible and for making sure that people with disabilities feel seen, valued, and cared for in the midst of these challenging times. Your support provides real community and belonging for many.
