Your audience will walk away with a practical understanding of what it means to minister to and with people with disabilities and steps they can take to create more inclusive homes, small groups and churches. Our talks are fun, informative and engaging. We generally speak on the following topics:
This workshop will help develop an understanding about what it feels like to live with ADHD/LD in order to accommodate needs and develop strategies for dealing with associated behaviours.
This workshop is geared for anyone who wants to stock their supply cupboard with practical, easy to use/understand tools for supporting children and youth who struggle with attention, interpreting sensory input, and reading and writing. Presented as a ‘show and tell’ and ‘make and take’ that will help you understand supports that you can put into place to help all children experience the full life of your church.
Faith is a continuous journey of growing and learning. How do we support people with disabilities to grow in their faith? How do we create an environment that makes it possible for people with disabilities to connect with Jesus? How do we encourage people to express their faith in Jesus?
The Body of Christ is a beautiful picture, and yet if we look closely, we recognize that it is incomplete. This workshop looks at the biblical model of inclusion and presents activities that are intended to teach ways to recognize that inclusion is necessary for the strength of the body. It also presents resources and practical, ready to use strategies that are intended to remove barriers.
Inclusion of people with disabilities can feel overwhelming. This workshop helps outline a step-by-step process that includes how to do “ministry with” rather than “ministry to” people with disabilities.
This workshop is ideal for church councils/boards, care teams, adult education groups, and individuals who want to learn how to show care to people with long-term needs.
Our attitudes shape the culture that we create in our faith communities. Attitudes can create invisible barriers that are difficult to overcome. This workshop is designed to help churches identify where they are in their attitude regarding people with disabilities. How do we identify where we are? How do we move through the various stages to grow into communities where everyone belongs and everyone serves?
Autism has evolved from an unfamiliar term to an everyday reality for millions of people. But what about the church? What about your church? How can it become a welcoming place for individuals and families affected by ASD? Using the resource, Autism and Your Church by Barbara J. Newman, we will learn about autism and some specific strategies for including people with autism in the life of your church.
