At Hope Centre Ministries, we believe that every person deserves to belong and have the opportunity to contribute their gifts. This belief is the very heart of The Raw Carrot, our new social enterprise that provides meaningful, dignified work for people facing barriers to traditional employment. We are thrilled to be officially open, but to truly fulfill this mission, we have a critical need for your help.
The Power of Working Together
Our summer ministry team, who have been invaluable in getting our kitchen off the ground, will soon be leaving. Now, we need to build a new team of dedicated volunteers to work alongside and support our employees. This is not just a chance to chop vegetables; it’s an opportunity to build friendships, offer encouragement, and help our employees develop their skills and confidence. Your presence is a key part of our supportive workplace environment.
To operate at full capacity and ensure the long-term sustainability of the program, we need to significantly increase our production. According to The Raw Carrot’s proven model, we need to go from making two pots of soup a week to four to six pots. That’s a lot of onions!
A Shift with a Purpose
Every task in our kitchen is a step towards a greater purpose. Your commitment, whether it’s once in a while or a regular weekly shift, has a direct and powerful impact.
- Morning Shift (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM): This is where we have our most urgent need. We’re looking for 2-3 volunteers to join us each week. You’ll be dicing, chopping, and preparing all the vegetables that go into our soups, working right alongside our employees. Your support allows us to get the pots on the stove on time, ensuring we can meet our production goals. This is a hands-on opportunity to build community and help others shine.
- Afternoon Shift (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM): This shift is all about the final touches. We need 1-2 volunteers to help with cleanup, carefully pouring, measuring, and labelling our soups before they are packaged and moved to the freezer. It’s an essential role that ensures our high-quality products are ready for sale.
