Belonging Should Never Be Delayed: Hand-Delivered Holiday Cheer

With the Canada Post strike causing delays in mail service this holiday season, we knew our Christmas mailing—filled with stories of belonging and a sweet surprise—couldn’t just sit in a pile. At Hope Centre Ministries, we believe belonging should never be delayed, which is why we quickly devised a plan to ensure that giving would continue, even in the midst of postal disruption.

Over the course of a few busy days, HCM staff baked and packaged over 720 cookies—yes, 720!—and hand-delivered them, along with our Christmas mailings, to the doorsteps of local supporters. From cookies to calendars, our dedicated volunteers bundled up, braved the cold, and set out to bring festive surprises to as many of you as possible. Whether it was a quick wave, a warm hello, or leaving a little Christmas surprise on your porch, we wanted to make sure you felt the love and gratitude we have for you and your generosity.

It was such a joy to connect with so many of you, and we’re so grateful for your continued support. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to reach everyone, especially those in apartment buildings or farther from the city. With the postal strike still in effect, we’re hoping that service resumes soon, but in the meantime, we’ll be sending out our Christmas mailing to your inbox (hooray for email!) to ensure you receive our heartfelt message and updates soon.

The Canada Post delays may have affected our mail, but the message of belonging and community is as strong as ever!

Thank you for being part of the heartbeat of Hope Centre Ministries. We’re so grateful for you.
