It is easy for me to feel lonely when I am away from my friends.  I like it that HCM helps make sure that I stay connected and helps me learn about God in fun ways.

Separate but not disconnected. Physically distanced but not alone.

Community and belonging are critical needs.  Hope Centre Ministries strives to ensure that people with disabilities have continued access to spiritual care.  For many people sacred practices bring hope and peace.  Our current programs have been designed to fit into weekly schedules and help provide purpose, meaning, and joy in keeping healthy rhythms and routines.

It is so important for everyone to see the faces of others and know that we have a place of belongings.  Hope Centre Ministries has several opportunities for individuals with disabilities to connect with others throughout the week.

Whether your preferred contact is via telephone, Zoom, distanced in person meetings, or outside visits we would love to help you connect.  Please visit our Calendar page to see what is available or Contact us to request a time.

Hope Centre Ministries has created content that is simple for individuals to access from the comfort of their own home so that they can include spiritual practices at times that suit them best.

Anchored:

A series of video devotions created during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a time of segregation and isolation, HCM invites people to gather online to be reminded of the HOPE that God gives to us. We hope you’ll join us– to be reminded that in the midst of a storm, we have an anchor for our souls. Watch Anchored on Youtube

Mindful Moments:

Mindfulness supports mental health in that it helps individuals to focus on the present through a variety of exercises.  These videos demonstrate different tools and tips that help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and emotions. Watch Mindful Moments on Youtube

Setting aside a time to connect with God with other people is important.  While we aren’t hosting in-person worship times, we do have a weekly worship time each week via zoom.  This service is a simple gathering that includes some shared music, Biblical teaching, and interactive prayer.

Summer worship times are Wednesdays at 4:00.  Contact us to receive the link to join!

Friendship Groups are Bible study fellowship programs geared for young adults and adults living with disabilities. While in person programs are potentially still on hold, we’re preparing to offer monthly Friendship Group kits which individuals can participate in at home and with each other online.

There will be a new themed kit each month that individuals can register for which will have a different lesson or focus each week.  These will include Bible teachings, response activities, hosted Zoom meetings, and challenges that everyone can participate in.

This year looked a little different for our annual spring retreat!  Instead of cancelling due to COVID-19, Retreat took place in over 60 homes across Winnipeg.  “Retreat in a Box” took place June 1-7, 2020 and contained a custom designed T-shirt, a daily visual schedule with activities, daily videos, opportunities to connect with other participants via Zoom, and Bible teachings with a response journal and activities.

Hopefully next year we’re able to resume retreat at Camp Arnes, but we’ll be prepared for either way!

Every individual has been created to serve.  Many people with disabilities would love to experience a mission trip but have not typically been involved with church organized trips.  Typically Hope Centre Ministries facilitates a mission experience for youth and young adults with disabilities, but like so many things this has had to be adapted to current realities.  This summer, we will be hosting “Missions Week in a Box”.  August 17- 21 will be an exciting week.  Individuals of all ages have signed up for this intentional week which will include learning times, guided worship, Zoom connections, and opportunities to serve  community in safe ways.
