Future steps and plans that are bigger than “going back” to what was.
This year has truly been like no other year. The last 17 months have held incredible obstacles, but have also taught us so many things. Throughout all of the challenges and changes that COVID has thrown our way, HCM- because of the support of many- has maintained a presence that continues to bring people together.
As we learned to navigate on-line Bible studies, Zoom fellowship, and video production we have become aware of how truly inclusive those methods and initiatives have been. The HCM Bible studies, Friendship from Home, have grown dramatically as people no longer face barriers of transportation, staff support, or even geography! We know that if we simply “go back” we may lose some of these benefits. Our future steps involve a ‘hybrid’ approach. HCM Bible studies, for example, will continue on-line. We are using this summer to create and package the interactive components and are excited to resume those studies in fall.
But what about in-person fellowship? HCM recognizes that gathering and being together is an important way to care for each other. We know that it is needed and desired and we are currently exploring what that looks like and how it will fit into the hybrid approach. What we do when we gather, may be different than it was before, but we will be adding options for in-person times as resources permit. We don’t want to take an ‘either, or’ approach and so organizing and implementing will take careful planning. Moving forward we will need your help! We are looking for faithful prayer partners to support this next transition and also to re-establish our volunteer base. Please let us know if you would like to be involved in this way.
