The Heartbeat of Hope!

How you’re helping to share a message of inclusion.

When the message that HCM no longer qualified to participate in Ride for Refuge was delivered it was hard to imagine how we would be able to replace that event in such a short time and meet the fundraising expectations that the HCM budget was depending on.

Thanks to kind and compassionate people like you, the budget needs were met and a new event was launched. But this is more than simply supporting a budget and having a great event. So much more.

The Hearts for Hope logo

Hearts for Hope was shaped to represent the very heartbeat of HCM. It is more than just doing something good FOR people with disabilities– it’s about doing WITH. Participating together. Helping together.

Thank you for expanding the picture of inclusion by providing a fun way for individuals with disabilities to give to their community.

Sharing gifts…Inspiring HOPE!

The Story of Belonging: Jennifer loves to puzzle so for her activity, she not only completed several puzzle challenges, she also shared what puzzle pieces mean at HCM. These are a symbol of connection. Of giving AND of receiving. Everyone needs to have a place where they fit- where they belong. All event participants received a special keychain that was inspired and made by Jennifer. The coloured beads represent our differences and the special puzzle charm with a heart represents care and connection.

SuLi and her muesli

The Story of Purpose and Meaning: SuLi is an HCM participant and an entrepreneur! She has been making and packaging muesli with the help of her mom and her aunt for several years. It started as a way for SuLi to gain life skills and job experience. For her Hearts for Hope activity, SuLi prepared muesli for her donors as well as all of those who participated in the event. This gift is more than just a tasty snack. It is a reminder that God has a plan and purpose for everyone!

The Story of One by One: Kayla is known throughout HCM for her beautiful diamond art creations. She carefully places each diamond bead on the canvas… one by one. The beautiful picture takes care and begins by using each individual bead. Not only did she spend time supporting HCM by creating, she also gave one of her masterpieces to the person who raised the most funds! It’s a stunning display of patience and focus but an even more beautiful reminder of how HCM works… one by one… coming alongside one another and recognizing the importance of the individual as part of the bigger picture.
