Hope Centre Ministries has an immediate opening for a Community Coordinator. With this new position Hope Centre Ministries seeks to increase its capacity for helping people with disabilities experience belonging by intentionally focusing on community building.
HCM is a Christian organization that provides spiritual care and belonging for individuals who live with disabilities. As an organization, HCM has three areas of service: Support for Individuals, Support for Families, Support for Churches.
Support for Individuals: HCM supports individuals in connecting with God, connecting with others, discovering their gifts, and serving their community.
Support for Families: HCM provides opportunities for parents who are raising a child with disabilities to find connection with other families in order to share resources, encouragement, and prayer.
Support for Churches: HCM provides training and resources for churches who want to grow in their understanding of inclusion and better serve the spiritual needs of people with disabilities in their context.
Community Coordinator
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Connecting Community
- Prepare and facilitate in-person gatherings (in full compliance with all protocols)- this may potentially involve evenings.
- Organize Community Circles- geographical care groups
- Facilitate/plan locations for Community Circles to meet
- Host/facilitate Community Circle meetings (in person)
- Work with program coordinator to facilitate community building activities at various HCM programs.
Caring for Community
- Create and maintain HCM member data base
- Care visits/deliveries
- Creating care plans for individuals who are not connecting regularly through programs.
- Developing and implementing a care needs survey for all HCM members
- Tracking prayer needs
Communicating with Community
- Communication with broader community in regard to HCM activities
- Planning and maintaining regular mailings to ensure members receive reminders that they are noticed, known, and missed.
- Regular phone calls to all members.
- E-mail communication with agencies/churches
- Scheduling care routes/deliveries/visits
- Maintaining in-person fellowship schedule
Additional Responsibilities:
- Involvement in HCM special events
- Actively participate in fundraising activities to support the ministry.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to develop and run programs, including long term planning, administration, promotion, and relationship building with program participants and support staff.
- Strong spiritual leadership, good Biblical knowledge, and pastoral care skills
- Awareness of disability issues, and the impact they have on the lives of individuals and families, and a desire to be an advocate in the church and community context.
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Able to work well independently and meet a variety of deadlines.
- Strong administrative skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills (spreadsheets)
- Self-motivated, outgoing, flexible, and adaptable
- General understanding of social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
- Strong communication skills, in terms of spoken and written communication, and ability to communicate with people on a variety of levels.
- Driver’s license and access to vehicle for city wide care deliveries (mileage reimbursed).
Additional Information
- Start date April 2022
- All staff of HCM are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID 19
- Successful candidate will be required to complete criminal records check/vulnerable sector screening
- Upon hiring, successful candidate will need to learn a variety of platforms used by HCM (MailChimp, Canva, Access database, Hootsuite)
- Based at HCM office, 83 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, MB
- Flexible work week: hours TBD with successful candidate (32 hours/week)
- Salary is $18-$20 per hour (benefits not included)
- Reports to ED
